My own philosophy is somewhat more guarded and relates directly to Jaron Lanier's rule - only blog when you've got something really interesting to say.
The reason is simple - there is simply too much content on the internet already. Before I am eased back into my Old Duffer's Box, let me share some startling statistics:
- over 570 new websites are published on the internet - every MINUTE
- more than 10% of all the photos ever taken were taken in the last 12 months
- over 204 million emails and 5700 Tweets are sent every second
Until something really interesting comes up like Cats in Teacups...OMG! how cute is that?
PS - there is a neat visualisation of all this internet activity at onesecond.designly.com - prepare for much scrolling!
